Second Life® Expats?

3 hours ago today: A group of newbie avatars at the entry point of OpenLife® are busy editing their appearances. Every single one of us is a Resident of Second Life. Hardcore Residents at that, as the content of the chatter amongst us would seem to indicate...

Call me one more SL® expat. An early adopter, at that. I've had my Openlife account since June, although I must admit that I have not spent much time there to date. I think that is about to change, as more of SL's content creators arrive.

And now I've got an alt (she hasn't been in world at all yet), and my partner Alphonsus Peck has recreated himself in OpenLife as well. He has been busily editing his appearance so that he looks familiar to all!

And I am faced with that question I am continually faced with: who am I? Do I continue to wander the metaverse as Princess Ivory, or do I assume a new name and identity, and start a new life, leaving the old one behind? Think, think, think.

What new adventures await?

I am Alpha Auer in OpenLife as well - at least for now. I have not yet transported any of my Second Life alts (5 at the last count and exponentially growing - hhh) or indeed created new avatars for OpenLife.

All in due course...

Welcome to OpenLife, Alpha. :)

@ Princess
Wow, the new identity thing has been on my mind too. I have a name I have used since The Sims Online in every online game before Second Life. I have thought about rolling Mac and going back to that name. Let me know what you decided. :)

Every thing for me at the moment is at Second Life, but if a vivid life (including a writing culture) begins to develop elsewhere I'd happily delve. I actually think I've had an account with Openlife, as at once time I was playing around with the many opensource grids now available. I am surprised by Betty's interview that Openlife has become quite advanced!!

There needs to be a way to direct SL Expats though and network. Not all of us can be in-openlife at once! Maybe a Ning or Google group, for the future! I'll sure join and watch what things hold and maybe recreate my account again!

Also one other reason I shy from a pioneering role: I cant build! Muahahaha!

Though that is likely to change very soon, as I have a feeling that once Milk Wood moves I will have to help! Any advice would be helpful rofl.

Hi Therese. :)
There is a great ning network set up now for OpenLife users. Feel free to join and monitor how things are going and the advances made there.

Also, not all of us are builders. Some are there for social reasons and to watch a great new world as it grows in maturity.

I hope to see you around OLG soon.

I visited and did a very quick blog and flickr. It's not my first time there and I was very impressed with how far it's come since my last visit
